Write at least one of each of the noun phrases discussed in the unit (prepositional phrase, absolute phrase, and appositive phrase) and at least two of each of the verb phrases (infinitive phrase and participial phrase). Week 4: Journal 1
In your writing journal, begin to practice building sentences with adjective and adverbial clauses. As in Unit 3, you may find it helpful to be observing a scene in nature while you compose sentences. Using the lists associated with each of these types of clauses, write at least three (3) sentences including adjective clauses and three (3) sentences including adverbial clauses. Underline the adjective and adverbial clauses. Consider their function in both as a modifier and an aspect of your writing style.
Adjective clauses:
1) John who wrote a bible book started to walk with Jesus when he was a teenager.
2) The butterfly in the garden is lovely.
3) The butterflies, which live just a few hours, make the garden more beatiful.
4) That is the garden that I told you.
5) You do have a great home, which is clean and neat.
Adverbial clauses:
1) Until it finishes, lets pick up some cakes.
2) Before I met you, I used to look all the women.
3) Since I became Christian, I try hard to be a better person.
4) I never wake up early because I used to sleep late.
5) The dog barks angrily, but he never hurts anybody.
6) I must exercise since it is healthy.
